Fuat returned to Istanbul to take his music career to the next level.
“I had to face people in the metro, in the bus looking at me like I was a terrorist. This was very disturbing for me,” musician Fuat Ergin tells me on a rainy day in a cafe on the edge of Taksim Square in Istanbul. His rapid fire English is both softly spoken and littered with hip-hop aphorisms. He is telling me about what it felt like to be in Berlin, the city of his birth, after September 11.
