Turkey is safe to visit, says country's tourism ministry as protesters take control of large part of Istanbul's Taksim Square

Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism has moved to reassure tourists that it is safe to visit the country, in spite of protests continuing in Istanbul and popular holiday resorts including Bodrum and Marmaris.
A spokesperson for the ministry claimed there were “no problems” with transport or security in the city and that tourism was carrying on “as normal”.
