Turkey readies bill to protect spy agency
ISTANBUL Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan’s ruling party moved a parliamentary bill on Friday intended to curb investigation of secret contacts between Turkey’s national intelligence agency and Kurdish rebels.
State prosecutors’ atte-mpts to summon National Intelligence Agency (MIT) head Hakan Fidan for questioning have stirred speculation of a power struggle around Erdogan, who controls the service, and elements in the judiciary and police.
