Turkish Delights: Contemporary Art Highlights
For a country that only opened its first contemporary art museum a mere 10 years ago, Turkey has burst onto the scene with full force and fanfare. From its annual biennial to one of the biggest art fairs in the Middle East, the country (and Istanbul in particular) is quickly establishing itself as the place to discover art that bridges the East and West. This year’s 12th Istanbul Biennial saw a total 110,000 visitors and generated an energetic wave of media buzz, with some publications placing it on par with the Venice Biennale.
