Historic trial of Turkish coup leader opens in April

ANKARA: The historic trial of former Turkish junta leader Kenan Evren and another ex-general of his regime will begin on April 4 before an Ankara court, semi-official news agency Anatolia said on Wednesday.
Despite their ill health, a judge has ruled that 94-year-old Evren and former air force chief Tahsin Sahinkaya, 86, must appear before the court, said the agency, adding that they will be taken by force if they refuse to turn up.
