Cyprus veteran Denktash dead at 88
In one of his last in-depth interviews given to the Famagusta Gazette in 2010, he said that he wanted to be remembered chiefly for establishing the “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus”.

FORMER Turkish Cypriot leader Rauf Denktash has died.
He was re-admitted to hospital earlier this week in a critical condition suffering from a weakened heart, which lead to multiple organ failure.
In 2011, he suffered a partial paralysis caused by an embolism.
