Istanbul has been a site of peace and tranquility and known to the world as such since Fatih Sultan Mehmet conquered the city more than five-and-a-half centuries ago, Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbaş said during ceremonies organized for the 558th anniversary of the Conquest of Istanbul."
