The Republican People’s Party (CHP), which has traditioanlly been agaisnt the Kurdish cause in Turkey, recently held a conference in the Kurdish-dominated city of Van, with the aim of searching for strategies to resolve the Kurdish issue in the country.
The social democratic CHP, Turkey’s main opposition group, has been in opposition since the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) won landslide elections in 2002."
