Google's famous blog-hosting service, blogspot.com/blogger.com, has been banned following complaints by digital satellite platform Digiturk in Turkey. A Diyarbakır court issued an order to block blogspot.com after Digiturk filed a complaint against the website on the grounds that it violated the company's broadcasting rights of Turkey's top football division. The court order has victimized many blog users across the nation.
In a post on Twitter, Gül said the law should not lead to collective punishments, referring to a few pages causing the blocking of the whole website. “I have been receiving many messages over the ban on the blogs.
As far as I understand, the laws on the matter must be revised. And legislation must be changed in a way so as not to allow collective punishment. I will take the necessary initiatives to this end,” he posted.
Note Turkish Digest: So far Blogger is still being blocked and consequently posts out of Turkey on Turkish Digest have not been posted.
