Turkish Cypriot President Mehmet Ali Talat and his Greek Cypriot counterpart, Dimitris Christofias issued a joint statement last week in which they said, “They were encouraged by the important progress they have made so far on the chapters of governance and power sharing, EU matters and the economy” in their negotiations to find a lasting settlement to the Cyprus problem."
