Even though Turkey and Pakistan are tied in a long relationship that spans centuries, and even though Ankara and Islamabad are founding members of the RCD and then the ECO, trade has languished and is not reflective of the close relationship that exists between the people. The Pakistani flag has been taken from the religious flag of the ottoman Empire with a slight modification. Ottomans symbols are represented on the currency and the symbolism of Pakistani icons."
