Turkey's judiciary has emerged as the chief line of defence of an establishment that sees the country's secularist order threatened by EU-driven reforms that have humbled the hardline military.

The Constitutional Court banned the only Kurdish party in parliament on Friday, a decision that could kill off Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan's reforms aimed at ending decades of conflict with Kurdish separatists."
