Is it true that there's no place like home? Our writer was posted back to her home town of Mumbai, but with all the bells and whistles of expat life.

I loved living in Istanbul; I hated the thought of leaving. Turkey is a beautiful country with gentle people and I immersed myself as wholeheartedly as a foreigner can in its culture, language and people. I read and discussed its problems with great interest and sympathy, but – and this is key - with a sense of detachment. This was the biggest adjustment, on returning home. "
