Issues that have divided neighbors Armenia and Turkey:
GENOCIDE: The killing of up to 1.5 million Armenians by Ottoman Turks during World War I, considered by many scholars to be the first genocide of 20th century. Armenia wants it recognized as such; Turkey denies it constituted genocide, contending the toll has been inflated and the dead were victims of civil war and unrest that killed Muslims as well as Christian Armenians."
