A senior Turkish minister has visited the headquarters of a pro-Kurdish political party in an unusual gesture of reconciliation.
Interior Minister Besir Atalay's meeting Thursday with Ahmet Turk, leader of the Democratic Society Party, is part of a wider government effort to forge a national consensus capable of ending a 25-year insurgency rooted in Turkey's predominantly Kurdish southeast."
