"UN envoy Downer says Cyprus talks must work

The United Nations has urged Greek and Turkish Cypriots to seize the opportunity offered by talks to reunite their island, saying time was working against a deal.
Former foreign minister Alexander downer, who is now the UN envoy for Cyprus, says the talks need to work.
'They really have to succeed, because I think the alternative is a fairly dark future for Cyprus,' he said."
