Turkey's non permanent membership to the United Nations Security Council became a diplomatic gain while the country is struggling with the global financial crisis and security problems on the northern Iraqi border. Prime Minister Erdoğan interpreted the result as "an opportunity to undertake a global role." It is true that Turkey, applying for a membership in 2003, lobbied so much and even knocked on the doors of "genocide" leaders of Africa for five years. It did not actualize by saying "There is no friend of the Turk except the Turk!" "
