Placing the immigrants' integration into the German society at the very heart of its state policy after many years of denial and neglect, Germany is finally dedicating time, money and energy for progress on this still unresolved matter.
From the Turkish perspective, any deviation from the old pattern, the so-called denial policy, and diagnosis of the “disease” by the coalition government led by Chancellor Angela Merkel, a Christian Democrat, represent a significant turning point. The parallel societies built up from differing social, cultural and religious traditions in a multicultural setting could no longer be ignored by the Germans. "
