Babacan said that Turkey's membership to the EU would strengthen the Union's diplomatic and political power and the EU would 'play a leading role' in the world, reported Timeturk.
Speaking at a press conference after a Turkey-EU Troika meeting in Brussels, Babacan said Turkey had fulfilled its promises and would continue to do so in its accession process, adding that his country had passed nearly 30 legal arrangements including the the Law on Foundations and the amended Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code."
