Way back in October, a few of the Globespotters correspondents made the rounds of various hammams and reported on the good, the bad and the musty. In Istanbul, we visited the reliable Cemberlitas hammam near the Grand Bazaar, a longtime favorite that is popular with tourists on a budget. Our mid-range service there was 40 YTL, so I had to admit to a twinge of envy when I read Elizabeth Rosenthal’s tale of the lovely Roman bath, but raised an eyebrow at the 50 euro price tag."
