When I saw that Radio 4's Classic Serial was going to be Orhan Pamuk's My Name Is Red, I thought I might skip it because, much as I like the novel, it took me a month to read so I couldn't see how it would fit into (a) two episodes and (b) a comprehensible narrative. I was wrong."
