Turkey’s inflation accelerated to the fastest pace in more than four years in July as energy costs jumped, putting more pressure on the central bank to raise interest rates for the fourth month in a row.

The inflation rate rose to 12.1 percent from 10.6 percent in June, the statistics office in Ankara said on its Web site yesterday. Consumer prices were expected to increase 11.8 percent, according to a Bloomberg survey of 18 economists. In the month, prices rose 0.6 percent."
