Most of Turkey's domestic debates no longer include the European Union membership process, but one can't say that nothing is being done about this issue.
The debates over the headscarf in universities, compulsory military service, the law on minority and foreign foundations and the modifications in the penal code are part of Turkey's transformation pains."
