We have previously cited Europa Universalis II as a highly educational historical simulation game that shows the underlying causes of many of today’s messes. The game’s designers did extensive research, as shown by the kind of goods that are produced in various provinces. The western part of South America, for example, produces copper, and modern Peru and Chile are well known for their copper mines, while Lebanon makes naval supplies. (The Epic of Gilgamesh reports that the Sumerians were interested in Lebanese cedar for ship construction.)"
