"Turkey and US sign $1.8 bln deal for F-16 purchase
Representatives from Turkey and the US signed an agreement in Ankara yesterday for Turkey's purchase of an additional 30 F-16 Block 50 plus fighters according to Washington's Foreign Military Sales (FMS) conditions at an estimated cost of $1.78 billion -- including $150 million worth of electronic warfare equipment to be installed on the fighters.
Turkish Defense Minister Vecdi Gönül, speaking during the signing ceremony with US Ambassador to Turkey Ross Wilson, said the final assembly of the additional 30 fighters would be done at the Tusaş Areospace Industries (TAI) facilities near Ankara and would be known as the Peace Onyx 4 program. "
