The Turkish parliament on Thursday unanimously adopted a motion on holding the general elections on July 22, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.

The parliament overwhelmingly approved the call from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), which has a majority of 351 seats in the house.

All of the 458 deputies on the parliament floor voted in favor of the motion, deputy speaker Sadik Yakut said, adding the approval had the support of the opposition to bring the elections forwards from original November 4."
