"EU tense over new French leader's stand against Turkey

(BRUSSELS) - European leaders have expressed increasing concern about French president-elect Nicolas Sarkozy's opposition to Turkey's membership of Europe's rich club.
Sarkozy, elected Sunday with some 53 percent of the vote, has reiterated that mainly Muslim Turkey 'does not have a place' in the European Union, but would have in Asia Minor."
