"Blair urges EU to stand by its promise to Turkey
Turkey has a long way to go before it is ready to join the European Union, but it would be a 'disgrace' if the 27-nation bloc breaks its promise to admit it as a member, British Prime Minister Tony Blair said.
The British premier, referring to a recent political crisis in Turkey centered around the contested presidential election, said, 'It is important that the current situation is resolved peacefully and democratically.'"
