Ankara, Turkey (AHN) - Whether Turkey is facing a political crisis or not, the United States has adopted a hands-off policy and is staying in the shadows despite Turkey's importance as what some view as its role as a democratic bridge between Islam and Europe. At issue are veiled threats by Turkey's military to intervene in elections if an Islamist became president."
