Pope Benedict XVI has not gone to Turkey for talks with Muslims, still less to convert them. He will speak to the Turkish authorities about the Christians living in the country, who have a right to more protection, but the main purpose of his visit could well be to meet with the Patriarch of Constantinople in the hope of healing as swiftly as possible the rift that was opened during the reign of his predecessor."
