Eceabat is a town on the edge of the Gallipoli Peninsula. It is the last stop before boarding a ferry and crossing into Çanakkale and beyond.

Historically known as Mydos, Eceabat (according to my calculations as I read in Herodotus) is the spot where I believe Alexander the Great crossed the Dardanelles and proceeded down the Aegean to reclaim the towns and cities from Persian domination (even though he was a Macedonian and in spite of the fact that the Greeks did not appoint Aristotle and refused him a position at Plato's university because he was a not a Greek but a Macedonian.
