Mardin. The terrorist acts, the number of which is gradually growing in the southeastern Anatolia region, have a negative effect on the economy as well, online edition of Turkish newspaper Zaman reads today.
The province of Mardin, which is one of the provinces with the highest revenue from tourism, has suffered a tough blow. Before the terrorist attacks in Diyarbakir and Kiziltepe Mardin attracted numerous tourists because of the co-existence of various cultures and civilizations but now the locals have lost a considerable part of their income. While last year 400,000 people visited the city the number of tourists this year is just under 25,000, the newspaper notes."
