"This EU business needs a bit more seriousness

Hürriyet's Mehmet Yılmaz asserted yesterday in his column that the Justice and Development Party (AKP) administration, led by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is not taking the EU accession process as seriously as they might. He said, "Erdoğan does not at all like the criticism leveled at him during this process," and then followed this up noting, "But the process of EU membership is not only connected with creating laws." Other aspects to the process, added Yılmaz, include things like the translation of important EU documents to Turkish and the setting-up of dialogues between the government and important civil organizations."
