When Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan opens his mouth these days it's usually to lambaste, no matter who he's addressing. He didn't spare the European Union from vitriolic remarks. 'If the negotiations [with the EU] are to be halted then let them be halted' has become the most dramatic comment ever heard from a Turkish leader.
Was such a remark necessary?"
