"Babacan: Be ready for pause in EU process

Turkey's chief European Union negotiator and State Minister Ali Babacan said yesterday that everybody should be ready for a possible slower pace or even a pause in the EU accession process.
Asked about possible tension with the EU this year over Cyprus, Babacan replied that the Turkish economy is now stronger when faced by the impact of domestic or international developments. 'But anyhow everybody should be ready for a possible slower pace or even a pause in the EU process,' Babacan stressed. He also added that there may be ups and downs but that Turkey will continue with its final aim of EU accession."
