Leslie Tuttle never expected to find feminism thriving in a small Turkish village.
Back in the 1970s, Tuttle worked as a photojournalist for a Turkish rural development foundation. She became close friends with a woman named Fadime, a Muslim in the village of Topardic, and spent her time photographing the harsh living conditions of agrarian life.
Tuttle joined Oxfam America and work brought her elsewhere -- Thailand, India. She married and finally settled in Southborough, where she raised a family and served on the school committee. "
