One of the most magnificent structures built in the Ottoman period, the Hoşap Castle in the eastern Anatolian province of Van, is closed to visitors due to collapse in some of its sections.
The historic castle, situated on the Van-Başkale highway, 60 kilometers from Van city center, was built in 1643 by the Mahmudi dynasty. The castle, which sits on a sloppy rock, attracts many local and foreign tourists because of the specialties that can be found in its construction. "
