Construction season in Kocaeli has highlighted the region as one of the world's oldest areas of settlement, hosting numerous civilizations, with one excavation site promising an abundance of archaeological wealth.
Two graveyards from the Roman and Lydian eras as well as a statue were unearthed during municipal construction work. "
