Will or can the Turkish people allow for the establishment of an Islamic regime? The answer is 'no.' Can the ruling Justice and Development Party, with about 6-8 percent hard-line Islamist members, succeed in establishing a regime driven by Shariah law, even if it is inclined towards such an end as an organization? The answer again is 'no.' Then why is there so much ado to prevent AKP leader Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan from becoming the next president of the republic?"
