"EU internal report concerned over Turkey's slow progress
Just a few days before an important meeting between Turkey and the European Union, an internal report from the European Commission has implied that accession talks could come to a halt due to insufficient progress in political reforms.
British daily the Financial Times said on Tuesday that a draft report, prepared for next Monday's EU-Turkey Association Council, states Ankara has done too little to implement changes. According to the report, Turkey has persistent shortcomings on freedom of expression, religious and minority rights and the role of the military in politics."
