It is not clear whether Turkey will go ahead with the controversial trial of novelist Orhan Pamuk now that an Istanbul court has adjourned his trial until 7 February. The judge says that the prosecution cannot proceed unless approved by the ministry of justice. That could provide a convenient escape route for both the Turkish government and the EU."
