Dr. Kennedy, cok yakin arkadasi ve meslektasi Prof. Joe Scolnick'in 7 Aralikta vefatindan sonraki 13 Araliktaki anma gununde bir konusma yaptiktan sonra jimnastik salonunda felc gecirmis ve yere yigildaktan sonra, omuzu cikmis. Oradan helikopter ile Holston Valley Medical Center(Kingsport, Tennessee)'a nakledilmis. "
