"Babacan Says Turkey's E.U. Calendar Works Smoothly As Planned
ANKARA - Turkish State Minister and Chief Negotiator for EU Affairs Ali Babacan said on Saturday that Turkey's EU calendar worked smoothly as planned.
Speaking in the parliament during the discussions on the 2006 budget, Babacan referred to Turkey's EU bid. Babacan said that screening on four chapters were concluded and two others would be completed soon. Noting that Turkey's Secretariat General for EU Affairs worked as the basic secretariat (for Turkey-EU accession talks), Babacan stressed that the government wouldn't set up a centre which would be under the monopoly of a certain institution.
Babacan added that the economic developments in Turkey were very pleasing."
