A Turkish jeweler has been freed in Iraq after 40 days in captivity following the payment of a $170,000 ransom.

Enver Unvar had been kidnapped by an Iraqi group named Mucahit in late July after having left a military base in Iraq for a trip back to Turkey.

Enver Unvar (55) had opened a jeweler's shop at a US military base in Iraq after moving his business from Incirlik Airbase near Adana.

The kidnappers' demand for a ransom for the release of Mr Unvar was met by his relatives who paid $170,000 for his liberation."
