A Greek Cypriot envoy has identified objections to a reunification plan for Cyprus in preliminary talks this week at the U.N. headquarters, a move likely to help the United Nations assess chances for resumption of talks between Turkish and Greek Cypriots on the island.
In another step to lay the groundwork for possible talks between the Cypriot parties, the United Nations decided to send a senior envoy to the island by the end of this month for talks on both sides."
