"EU seeks new formula for Cyprus

The European Union is working on a new plan to find a solution on the divided island of Cyprus, news reports said, as the United Nations is assessing prospects for resumption of reunification talks between the Turkish and Greek Cypriot sides.
The EU formula, which is still being worked out by the holder of the bloc's rotating presidency, Luxembourg, foresees direct trade between Turkish Cyprus and EU countries through a Turkish Cypriot port, reported Greek Cypriot newspaper Phileleftheros. But this will be in return for a Turkish Cypriot concession to stop construction of new buildings on land in the north claimed to be owned by Greek Cypriots."
