"Cyprus: Turkish Cypriots participate in 30th Cyprus International Fair
11:42 - 20 May 2005 - A significant number of Turkish Cypriot companies are participating for the first time in the 30th Cyprus International Fair, which officially opens tonight and will last nine days. The Cypriot Government expressed its hope that the participation of Turkish Cypriot companies in the International fair will strengthen trade and economic ties between the two communities. Nevertheless, the Cypriot Government added that this effort is prohibited by the Turkish Cypriot leadership, which is trying to achieve the adoption of the EU Regulation of direct trade (that would allow exports from Northern Cyprus to the EU at preferential rates). "
