Construction workers from Turkey have called for a full apology from Conor Lenihan for his 'kebab' remarks.
A small group gathered this afternoon at Liberty Hall in protest at yesterday's Dil incident. The Overseas Aid Minister heckled Deputy Higgins from the backbenches in support of the Taoiseach during a debate telling him to 'stick with the kebabs'.
Rafet Gokturk said the workers were upset at seemingly being compared to a piece of meat.
He said: 'They are already struggling for justice in this country and while they are in this difficult situation along comes a minister with responsibility for the human rights and aid to other foreign countries and makes this kind of remark. It was a big insult for them. They were very, very offended.'"
