NICOSIA, Cyprus (AP) - The president of the breakaway Turkish Cypriot state in northern Cyprus warned he may close border crossings on the war-divided island if Greek Cypriots continued to push for restitution of their properties in the north.
The threat from President Mehmet Ali Talat, in an interview published Sunday, followed the issue of arrest warrants earlier this month by Greek Cypriot courts against Turkish Cypriots and foreigners who are allegedly occupying properties belonging to Greek Cypriots who fled south after Turkey's 1974 invasion.
