"Babacan Chosen as Turkish Top Negotiator for EU
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced earlier today that State Minister Ali Babacan is assigned as the 'Top Negotiator' for the membership negotiations with the European Union (EU), which are due to start on October 3.
In a Justice and Development Party (AKP) group meeting, Erdogan informed about Babacan's assignment to the position and the Prime Minister said, 'We will conduct this process along with Mr. Babacan. We'll sit and talk. May God help us. Mr. Babacan, God willing, will orchestrate this mission with success.' "
